Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the Dogoos mobile app ("Dogoos", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. Dogoos helps you understand your dog's mood from a short camera clip. If you have any questions, email support@dogoos.com.
Information we collect
- Account โ your email address (and, if you use Google or Apple sign-in, the basic profile those services return).
- Profile you provide โ your first name, and your dog's details (name, breed, age, vibe) and any photos you add.
- Camera & microphone โ when you start a read, Dogoos captures a short video/audio clip of your dog. The clip is sent for AI analysis and is not stored as a video; only the resulting read (and, if you save it, a single still "keepsake" frame) is kept.
- Crash diagnostics โ if the app crashes, technical crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) help us fix it. These contain no personal content.
- Usage analytics โ basic, anonymised analytics (via Google Analytics for Firebase, with IP addresses trimmed) about how the app is used, so we can see what's working and fix what isn't. It never includes your photos, clips or reads, and is never used for advertising. This is on by default to help us make Dogoos better; you can turn it off anytime in Settings โ Privacy โ "Share usage data".
- Notifications โ a device token so we can send the reminders and updates you've enabled.
Our website (dogoos.com) uses the same privacy-friendly analytics. It runs without cookies until you accept them via the banner, and never tracks you for advertising.
How your dog's clip is analysed (AI)
To generate a read, the captured clip is processed by Google's Gemini models via Firebase AI Logic. Clips are used only to produce your read and are not used to train Google's models. A read is for insight and entertainment โ it is not veterinary advice or a medical diagnosis.
How we use your information
- To provide the core features โ reads, your dog profiles, history and cross-device sync.
- To send notifications you've turned on.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To improve Dogoos โ using anonymous usage analytics (on by default; opt out anytime in Settings โ Privacy).
Where it's stored
Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) in the European Union (europe-west1) and is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell your data.
Who we share it with
- Google โ as our infrastructure and AI provider (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase AI Logic/Gemini, and โ only with your consent โ Analytics).
- We do not share your personal data with advertisers and we never sell it.
Households
Dogoos lets you form a household so family members can share the same dogs while each keeps their own account, name and settings. When you add or bring content into a household โ dogs and their photos, and (in a future update) reads, keepsake photos and health entries โ that content is visible to every member of the household, and any member may edit or remove shared dogs. Content you contribute may be retained by the household after you leave so the rest of the family keeps their pack; when the last member leaves, the household and its shared data are deleted. If you want the content you personally captured removed after you've left, contact support@dogoos.com. Your personal account data (name, themes, quiz progress, bones and history that isn't shared) always stays yours and is removed when you delete your account.
Keeping & deleting your data
We keep your data until you delete it. In the app you can:
- Download your data (Settings โ Privacy โ "Download my data").
- Clear the reads & photos you captured, which removes them on your device and in the cloud. Content you've shared into a household is handled under "Households" above.
- Delete your account (Settings โ Account), which permanently erases your personal account, your own dogs, reads, photos and related data. Dogs and content shared into a household stay with the household for its remaining members (and are deleted with it when you were the last member).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under UK/EU GDPR), you have rights to access, correct, export, and delete your data, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these directly in the app; for anything else, contact support@dogoos.com.
Children
Dogoos is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this policy as the app evolves and revise the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
