Bones & earning
Bones are earned, never bought
Bones are the currency inside Dogoos, and nothing in the app sells them. You earn them — from the daily wheel, from beating your own quiz score, from the walks and meals you were logging anyway — and 40 of them buys an extra live read today.
The short version
One read a day is the floor, not a trial
Every free account gets one live read a day, for as long as you keep the account. It never runs out and it never turns into a countdown. But a read is a real AI call with a real bill attached, so a second one in the same day has to come from somewhere: a subscription, a Pass, a lucky spin, or bones.
There's no bone bundle — no top-up, no ad to sit through, no "watch this to continue". The only purchases in Dogoos are the three monthly plans, and none hands you a bone. Under the terms bones have no cash value and don't transfer.
Earning
Spin, quiz, walk, meal, welcome — that's the whole list
Bonus reads expire tonight. A read you buy or win is for today only — everything resets at midnight UTC. The bones stay put; the spare reads don't. That's why every screen in the app says "today" and none of them says "banked".
How it stays honest
A quiz you can't farm
Replay a Dogoos quiz and it pays only for the points above your last best. Score six out of ten on body language today and you're paid for six; come back and score eight and you're paid for the two you gained. Score six again and you're paid nothing at all. The perfect-run bonus lands once per topic, and that's the topic finished.
The explanation under each answer stays put until you press Next — nobody learns what a lip-lick means from an answer that vanishes in a second and a half.
Bones, reads, streaks and Passes are written only by the server — the app can't mint one, and the walk and meal counters are capped server-side. A scripted phone earns exactly what your real one does.
The Bone Shop
900 bones is a week of Tracker
What a bone is worth
A streak is one read in a day. Miss a day and it starts again at one, unless you've got a freeze banked — freezes are the one thing here you genuinely can stockpile.
What the economy does
- Pays for the points above your best quiz score, and nothing for a replay that only ties it
- Rolls the wheel on the server, so no phone can lean on the result
- Lets bones alone reach a paid tier — no card, no bundle, just the wheel and the record you keep
- Counts a spin, a walk and a meal — never a Doggy Dash score
What it won't do
- Sell you bones. There's no bundle, no top-up, no rewarded ad
- Roll bonus reads over to tomorrow — they end at midnight UTC
- Take 900 bones for a Pass when you're already paying for a plan
- Award a single bone for playing Doggy Dash
Doggy Dash
The game that pays you nothing
Doggy Dash is a full endless runner built into the phone app — the web app doesn't carry the game — and it's wired to the economy at exactly no points. No bones, no reads, no score that feeds anything. Rex runs, you tap to jump and double-hop in the air, and that's the arrangement — not everything needs a reward bolted onto it.
Four places to run — park, beach, city and snow, each earned by reaching a score rather than paid for. Four difficulty tiers, from Puppy to Alpha. Eight power-ups, including the Treat Magnet, Pogo Paws, Zoomies Dash and a Treat Storm that does roughly what it sounds like.
Between runs it shows a real dog fact, and the source sits one tap away under "Learn more" — RSPCA, RSPCA NextGen or Dogs Trust, with the page title and the full URL, so you can check it yourself. The cards work with no signal at all.
Questions, answered
Five answers, and not one of them is "buy more bones"
My 50 welcome bones haven't arrived. Why?
They land once the account is 24 hours old and you've verified your email address or connected Google. The daily spin has the same requirement: real rewards need a real account behind them.
Do my extra reads roll over to tomorrow?
No — bonus reads are same-day only and clear at midnight UTC. Your bones don't expire, so spend them on a day you're actually going to use the reads.
What if I hit the jackpot and I'm already subscribed?
The server pays 500 bones instead of the Pass. Every Pass grants Tracker, and a Pass must never overwrite a tier you're paying for, so any live plan — Tracker included — takes the bones instead. The Bone Shop's 7-day Pass follows the same rule, except there it simply refuses the sale.
Does a Tracker Pass get me Story Mode?
No. Every Pass the app can grant — wheel jackpot, Bone Shop week, gift code, referral taster, inviter reward — is a Tracker Pass. Story Mode and the weekly wellbeing report need Whisperer or above, and no Pass reaches them.
Is the wheel rigged?
It's weighted, and here's the weight that matters: the jackpot is a 30-day Tracker Pass at 0.5%, which a daily spinner hits roughly twice a year. Your phone doesn't roll it — the server picks the segment and the animation lands on what it's told.
Spin the wheel.
Then go and read your dog.
