What you get, and where the paid plans start
One live Read a day. The launch offer includes a five-second camera Read on Android, resetting at midnight UTC. Label scans and Rex chat have their own allowances, shown in the app.
One dog. One profile, one history, one album. A second dog is where the paid plans begin.
An account. Google, or an email address and a password, so your dog's history is still there on your next phone. Nobody asks for a card, and there are no adverts on any plan.

Twelve things a free account opens
The plans count the things that cost us something each time: live reads, breed checks, label scans and Rex's chat allowance. Everything else is free for everyone. Keeping a weight curve in the Health Hub, setting a worming reminder, sharing a pack with your partner in a household, building a vet summary on your phone: none of it is held back.
Three features do sit on the paid side (the breed check, the weekly report and Story Mode), and the ten- and twenty-second clips come with a subscription. The journal, the album, the games, the shared pack and every read you've ever taken are yours on any plan.
Ask Rex
"60g of kibble and a 40-minute walk", both logged. Free accounts get the Light chat allowance. He works from your dog's own records and checks with you before saving.
Nutrition
One AI label scan a day and a daily calorie range with the working shown. Puppies get pointed to the vet for a feeding plan.
Activity
Walks, runs, play, training, swims. Log how long and how it went, and watch the weekly pattern build.
Households
Up to five people on one shared pack, live on every phone, each read stamped with who took it. Invite codes are single-use and last 24 hours. Everyone reads on their own allowance.
Keepsake Album
Every read saves a still from the clip, grouped by month, with a slideshow and a monthly recap card to share.

Good to know. Context training (eight guided scenarios that capture your dog's tells, from "said walkies" to "about to be left") is free to open, but each scenario records a normal read. On the free plan that's one scenario a day.

More reads, no money
Forty bones is one more read
Bones are the in-app currency, and you earn them by turning up: the daily spin, the Dog-IQ quiz, and the meals you were logging anyway. Forty bones buy an extra read for today; a hundred and fifty buy five in one go. Bones can't be bought, so the only way to hold any is to play.
New accounts get fifty welcome bones. They land a day after you sign up, once your email is verified or a Google account is linked, and the daily wheel opens at the same moment.
After that it's the spin, the quiz and the record you were keeping anyway. A logged meal pays two bones, up to three times a day. The quiz pays for improvement: the first run pays in full, then you earn on the points above your previous best. And a friend's invite code is worth a seven-day Tracker Pass, at sign-up or later, once per account.

It's also where you land if you stop paying. You keep your dogs, your album, your journal and every read you've ever taken; the extra reads, longer clips, breed check, weekly report and Story Mode come straight back when you subscribe again. The one thing you can't do until then is add another dog.

The awkward questions
Is the free plan a trial?
Pup is a free account, with extra allowances during launch. It does not turn into a paid subscription. Launch allowances may change for new and existing accounts, with notice before any reduction.
Do I really need an account?
Yes: Google, or an email address and a password. Your dogs, reads, keepsakes and health journal live with your account, which is what makes a new phone, or a second person in the household, just work.
When does my read come back?
At midnight UTC. In the UK that's 1am during British Summer Time and midnight the rest of the year. The daily wheel spin resets on the same clock.
Can I save up the reads I don't use?
No. The daily allowance doesn't roll over, and bonus reads from the wheel or the Bone Shop are for the day you got them. Bones, on the other hand, keep for as long as you like.
Does paying make the reads more accurate?
No. Every read is handled the same way on every plan: the same AI, the same six moods, the same confidence score, and the same friendly retry when it can't see your dog properly. Paying gets you more reads, longer clips, more dogs, the breed check, the weekly report and Story Mode.
Can I take a read in my browser?
Not yet. The web app at app.dogoos.com opens your account on any screen (history, health, album, Rex), and live camera reads, photo picking and Doggy Dash stay on the phone app.
Is a read veterinary advice?
No. A read is an estimate of your dog's likely emotional state from their body language: insight and fun, not a diagnosis. The Health Hub records what you observe and lays it out for your vet. If you're worried about your dog's health or behaviour, see a qualified vet.
